How it Works
Bio-Integration® is a natural, non-obtrusive process that remediates contamination below the ground surface, within the confines of the treatment cell or plume. We use bacteria that are pure-strain, single-genus cells originally isolated from oil-drilling mud. The cells are grown and inoculated in concentrations that insure good population growth. These organisms breathe, using dioxygen or alternative electron acceptors in their metabolism. The co-treatments are simply inorganic materials that are added as required to support bacterial growth. This successful approach was developed by ERC president Don Parris, leveraging his 40+ years of experience in Industrial Microbiology. Unlike traditional cleanup technologies, Bio-Integration® does not disrupt ongoing business. It can be conducted under buildings, highways, parking lots, and other structures without disturbing their integrity. No contaminant barriers are needed, no NPDES permit is required, and no volatilization occurs – eliminating the need for air emission controls or air quality monitors
Bio-Intregration® is a broad-based, technology-driven, process that qualifies and quantifies environmental constraints that negatively impact bacterial viability and, through co-treatments and hydrological manipulation, succeeds in reducing or reversing these adversities, resulting in a balanced, non-toxic, chemically supportive treatment zone for the inoculum. The bacteria are pre-screened and then selected based on the diversity of enzyme profiles and the contaminants to be degraded. The sole purpose of this treatment process is to introduce the correct type and concentration of organisms and ensure a continuous, non-toxic substrate (proximal to enzymatically active sites within cell walls), in order to achieve optimal degradation rates for the target contaminants.

· Naturally occurring, single-genus, substrate-specific, aerobic organisms are grown on site, ex-situ, and inoculated in calculated quantities sufficient to guarantee population dominance.
· Supportive means include pumping systems for hydrological manipulation, interstitial enlargement of clay/silt moduli, kinetic transport of electron acceptors, surface active agents to reduce hydrophobicity, micellar micro-emulsifiers, and matrical encapsulators.
Bio-Intregration® dispels many previously held misconceptions regarding “commonly accepted practices” for in-situ bioremediation, these practices being more manipulative than substantive. With over 40 years of remediation expertise and with a 100% success rate using Bio-Intregration®, we are extremely confident of our site-generated data. Take, for instance, the 10 trillion bacteria required to optimally remediate a ton of impacted soil. RATIONALE FOR USING BIO-INTEGRATION
-Process is approved by Florida DEP – (no objection to use).
-No air, water, or hazardous waste permits required.
-The process is conducted subsurface with no contamination, leaving the site via air, water, or soil.
-Degradation can be conducted under buildings, highways, or parking lots without disturbing their integrity.
-Reaction times are short – most closure periods are less than one year.
-Gasoline-free product removal proven within three months (340 gallons, in-situ).
-No residual by-products. End products of degradation are carbon dioxide, water, and ionic halides (if present).-Excess microorganisms become food for higher forms of life once remediation is complete. No further clean-up needed.
-All forms of hydrocarbons, including chlorinated organics, are easily degraded by this process.
